WHO published a guide to reduce and eliminate industrial TFA
The World Health organisation (WHO) released on the 14th of May 2018 a guide entitled ‘REPLACE action package’ for countries to implement actions to reduce and eliminate industrially produced TFA from the food supply. Their ultimate goal is to reduce total TFA intake in all population subgroups to <2.2 grams p/day (<1 Energy % p/day). According to WHO the elimination of TFA is possible by 2023. The Netherlands and most other Western countries already comply with this WHO recommendation, whereby the total TFA intake is well below the 1 Energy % per day. In the Netherlands, TFA is no longer a public health issue.
